These guys do so much to keep our shorelines clean. The sea never stops washing trash in, and they never stop taking it away. Full disclosure: I am a member that gets out with them occasionally, but it's always a great feeling to leave a beach a little cleaner than it was when I arrived. How they do so much with so little resources - clean-up, outreach, education - is just incredible.

Very active in preserving great woodlands on Staten Island. Whenever I meet non-islanders on the trails they always remark that they weren't aware spaces like this existed in NYC. And the organization is completely volunteer!
