I worked with Catskill Hudson AHEC (CHAHEC) as part of my Community HealthCorps service assignment. I didn't know what to expect at first, but it turned out to be an incredible learning opportunity. I worked with them to help implement their new Scrubs Club program at two high schools in rural Dutchess County. Having a background in education, I was immediately impressed by the comprehensive and thorough curriculum. As I assisted with each lesson, I found that I was learning just as much as the students!

Prior to my service at CHAHEC, I was uncertain about my career path after AmeriCorps, but as I was assisting the students with the Scrubs Club lessons, I found myself learning about health career options and the possibilities for my future career. The combination of my background in education, the supportive team at CHAHEC, and my Scrubs Club experience helped me discover my passion for health education.
