Review for Delta Community Choir, Lansing, MI, USA
I joined this group in its beginning year,We are a volunteer group We became a nonprofit tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable corporation in March, 2015 in order to more easily fulfill our mission statement: "Building Community through Song". I have always enjoyed singing and was glad for a group to call mine. It has been fun but a lot of work to prepare for the concerts that we have each December and spring. The music is enjoyable (even the difficult pieces) that are picked out by our director (Ellen McKenzie). We have increased in size but still keep the camaraderie that our smaller group enjoyed. Our accompanist is also first-class (Debora DeWitt). At this time, Delta Community Choir is funded solely by membership fees, donations of rehearsal space and supplies such as program paper. Our commitment is to provide concerts at which freewill charitable donations to other worthy non-profit organizations in Delta Township and surrounding communities are collected. We have raised over $14,000 cumulatively for Volunteers of America Homeless Veteran Program, The SIREN/Eaton Shelter, Hannah's House, the Michigan National Guard Family Readiness Group, Delta-Waverly Rotary Club Back Pack Program, and Woldumar Nature Center. Our last concert benefited The Michigan Great Lakes Chapter of Alzheimer's Association. We want to keep our fees to our members low and quality to our audiences high. If you are interested in adding your support to this wonderful group, please contact Ellen McKenzie at e.macklady@comcast.net. Thanks for thinking of us.
