Review for Life Unlimited of Virginia Inc, Rapidan, VA, USA
As founder and director of Life Unlimited of Virginia, Inc and it's divisions Rikki's Refuge and Wild and Feral, I've seen us grow from nothing but a corn field to a fabulous organization who houses 1259 animals daily. 22 different species. Well over 3,000 domestic and farm animals have been housed here since our inception. Thousands of native wild animals and been relocated here or returned to the wild here after rehabilitation. The tiny staff works hard from sunrise to sunset to provide the best environment possible to the residents. Dozens of hard working dedicated volunteers strive to improve every aspect of the organization every day. Our funding in minimal, $1 per animal per day - yet we are able to provide clean, spacious housing, food, medical care and preventative care in a warm, loving, kind environment. For the animals in our care, this is their last chance. No one and no other organization would help them. They all have "problems". Some social issues. Some health issues. Some are just elderly and needed a retirement home. The one thing they have in common is they all needed US to save their lives. Thank you to the thousands of wonderful people that make this refuge possible through hard work as volunteers or through generous donations.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
every possible way. Volunteers tackled corn fields & scattered trash to built a haven for 1259 animals of 22 species and maintain 300 acres of pristine woods and wetlands for native wildlife. Every penny & every volunteer hour saves another life.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
do exactly as I do !!!!!!
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
saving the lives of so many animals. And all the loving kind individuals I have met who have come to help.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
OUTSTANDING !!!!!
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
improve the current facility, add space for live in caretakers, save the lives of more animals, help other organizations working towards the same goals who so desperately need funding too.
Ways to make it better...
there had been more funding. That's the number one thing we've needed. Secondly more dedicated volunteers willing to donate one day a week. That's all it takes to save lives. Money and time. Both of wish are provided by YOU!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
financial expenses. With so much land the opportunities are endless. The reason we must turn away so many animals, who are then most likely killed, is lack of funding. Saving lives takes money and time. Money can hire time. More money = more lives saved.
One thing I'd also say is that...
life matters! Donate and/or volunteer today. Here or at your local shelter, sanctuary or pound. YOU can make a difference in the world. Just $5 a week or an hour of your time can save a life!
