Review for Global Village Institute, Summertown, TN, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As a co-founder of this organization, I can only say why it has stuck around for more than 35 years -- because it continues to stay relevant to changing circumstances. Our original vision was "Out to Save the World." That has never changed. What has changed is our strategy, tactics, and how we comprehend the non-linear, transgenerational, trans-species lifeform we call "the world." It ain't about us, the humans, any more. It is about the existence of life in this corner of the Universe. What stupidity could make much worse, could, with intelligence and creativity, be made much better. As we say in Permaculture, "the problem is also the solution." GVI is solution-oriented.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Belize, where it empowered members of the Belizian Organic Producers Association with the tools of permaculture.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the unceasing fun.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

incredibly talented people, all ages, races, cultures, and backgrounds, from all over the world, outwardly directed and rearing to go.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

... jump up a level, multiply its outputs by a factor of ten, and just possibly save the planet from heat stroke. GVI is trying to raise a Permaculture Army to green the world's deserts. That will likely take 10 billion, but 10 million is a good start.
