This small NGO takes on a big role in on a"local" issue, if you call 2 million acres of National Forest reaching from LA to Monterey local. They address everything from condor habitats, watersheds, oil drilling in the forest, trails, fire abatement, etc with rather both a small staff and low funding, and those efforts include legal challenges as well as lobbying and organizing.
Kudos to the dedicated staff and volunteers.
