Review for Ellicott Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Colorado Springs, CO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This is a great nonprofit rehab center. All of the volunteers have been very committed to the welfare of the animals, as well as helping to inform the public. I have seen firsthand the compassion the rehabers have for the animals they care about and the pride and safety they take in their responsibilities. Seeing them work has made me want to do more in the wildlife field and has made me consider getting more involved in rehab myself.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the compassion and knowledge of the rehabers, as well as the outcome of the animals they have treated.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Expand my coverage area and get more volunteers so as to take in/help more animals. Work with more partners in order to get necessary surgeries for injured animals.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

learning more about the animals and their care. Seeing how much the animals' welfare truly means to the people involoved.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

INCREDIBLE. They are responsible, knowledgable, helpful and willing to teach the public about the animals and their care.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

get a facility and set up surgical units and recovery rooms and be able to house wildlife there. Also they could do a lot more to build enclosures for larger wildlife.

Ways to make it better...

I were able to help with the animals, but I didn't have the experience or training necessary.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the few volunteers compared to the large number of animals recieved; especially during the spring when there is a huge influx of babies.

One thing I'd also say is that...

meeting the volunteers and learning more about rehabilitation has made me look into rehab myself and wanting to do it in the future. :)

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  General Member of the Public & I have seen volunteers working firsthand with the wildlife.
