Review for Malawi Project Inc, Lebanon, IN, USA
I have been on the board of the Malawi Project for several years. I love that this organization not only procures and sends aid to Malawi but they intentionally let the Malawians decide and control the way the resources are used. This allows those who know the culture and the needs on the ground to utilize aid in the best way possible. It also allows the Malwaians to build their own future and reach independence. After 30 years of working in the country, the Malawi Project can proudly say they have put medical equipment and supplies in 40% of the country's healthcare facilities, textbooks in almost all the country's public schools, and sent more than $300 million in supplies and aid to the nation of Malawi. So inspiring...

I am a board member of the Malawi Project. The Project is unique in that it makes an earnest attempt to decolonize the country. So many non-profits have an earnest desire to help developing countries, but they continue the cycle of colonization by requiring control of the aid they provide. The Malawi Project is trying to break the colonization cycle by placing control of the aid they send to Malawi into the hands of Malawians. We have been involved with building hospitals, libraries, grain storage bins, medical clinics, and food processing plants, but we have no control over any of these facilities. they are all controlled by the Malawians! It is such a thrill to work with the Malawians, to see them work to change their own destiny knowing that they can influence and control their own future. Anyone wanting to make a sustainable difference in s Africa needs to investigate and engage with the Malawi Project. We focus our efforts on medical, educational, agricultural and community development aid.

I have volunteered with the Malawi Project for more then a decade. Their commitment to making the people of Malawi of first importance has motivated me to get more deeply involved over the years. They are not partial in their aid, they provide for those in need regardless of who they are, their affiliations, or their religious beliefs. The Malawi Project is also committed to getting the Malawians to take responsibility for their own future. This is done by handing programs started by the Malawi Project over to the Malawian people. They have done this with a hospital, schools, agricultural programs - shared village tractors, aid distribution, food processing plant, etc. Thank you Malawi Project for all you have done.
