Review for Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge Inc, Navarre, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

An all-around outstanding organization! I've worked with this group for 10+ year in varying capacities. As a testament to my belief in the ECWR's mission and goals, it's professionalism and it's desire to educate the general public, I've remained involved even though I moved out of state six years ago. Under the capable leadership of Executive Director, Amanda Wilkerson, I've watched the ECWR go (and grow) from a tiny handful of volunteers who worked by trial and error to a very respected and educated group of professionals.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

education of the general public, growth in credibility, governmental agency support, professionalism, field-wide advancements in wildlife education and rehabilitation to the point of being a benchmark for similar organizations.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

hope that I could come even close to bringing it to the point that it has reached.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

watching its growth and goal attainment, a greater personal respect for the natural environment and its inhabitants through hands-on work and the fact that it will probably always be the most important and contributory thing I've ever done with my life.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

in a nutshell, incredible. They're professional, educated, compassionate and committed.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change the world! It could change the majority opinion regarding conservation and education for the planet's wildlife and natural environment.

Ways to make it better...

the public had been more supportive of an organization who provided so much to the community.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

educating the general public and lack of funding.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I can't say enough good things about this group. It has been the most rewarding, heartbreaking, wonderful, beneficial, frustrating and awesome thing I've ever been involved in and I am a better person for the experience. It changed my life & perspective.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
