Years ago my husband and I were Peace Corps volunteers in Ethiopia and can attest to the very real problem of fistula in a country with such limited access to health care. The stigma associated with either urinary or fecal fistula is very real and very painful to the young women and their families who are affected. The Fistula Foundation has been not only effective but kind and supportive. They have made great strides in preparing more midwives to make access to pre and post natal care more accessible. They are an outstanding organization.
