Review for Flint River Watershed Coalition , Flint, MI, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I became involved when the FRWC did a benthic monitoring demonstration at our annual Earth day Celebration at Mott a few years ago. I have been involved with the monitoring ever since. I have also worked with the organization through our University of Mich-Flint connections. As the University crosses the river we have a vested intrest in maintaining its beauty and health. The FRWC is a natural partner in our concerns. Their outreach into the community and schools has far reaching effects not to be ignored.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching the response of young college students walk away satisfied that they made a difference cleaning up the river. I see a community on the brink of discovering just what a resource our river is and recognizing that it is not limited to downtown Flint

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the people I have met, both staff and volunteer. They are as dedicated to the environment as I.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Friendly, knowlegable, helpful and fun to work with. I look forward to our next meeting in April.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand its scope, possibly forcing clean up of older sanitary systems in the older communities that seem to annually cause problems for Mott Lake. Possibly fund a PAC to push the River's agenda in Lansing and DC

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & Benthic Monitoring.
