Review for Reef Medics Foundation, Inc., Lakewood Ranch, FL, USA
Fishing is a passion of mine. When I moved to Florida, I became familiar with a growing problem attributable to a fish called LION-FISH. This fish is a native of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. How did this fish show up on this side of the world? The most logical rationale is that Home Aquarian owners dumped this very colorful fish into the ocean. In their native environment the LION-FISH have their predators keeping the eco-system in balance.. Obviously the Home Aquarian owners didn't have the predators, as a result the LION-FISH's natural drive of destroying plants, reefs and food supply was not inhibited. This means even sharks will face extinction because their food source will also be destroyed. Over time a "New World" Dead Sea will become the end result. I found much material explaining the destructive power of the LION-FISH, but very little about how to destroy them in order to protect our waters. When searching for answers how to combat this destructive fish, I found "reefmedics", a foundation which is the first one, at least to my knowledge, aggressively addressing this very serious problem from a broad perspective. I was so impressed with their approach and dedication to overcome and conquer their established goal and objective to destroy the LION-FISH through a number of modes. I became a donor for such a valiant effort. I strongly encourage you to Google "reefmedics.org" to read their website and specifically "PROJECT LION-FISH."
