Review for WildCat Ridge Sanctuary, Scotts Mills, OR, USA

Rating: 5 stars

WildCat Haven has grown over the years to be a premier wildcat sanctuary. As with most sanctuaries they started out the wrong way, purchasing a wildcat as a pet. Things change and growth comes out of knowledge. They have always been honest about their beginnings, using it as an example of how foolish it is to want to make a wildcat a pet. Now, as an accredited sanctuary they are making a difference in the lives of wildcats who need a safe, lifetime home. Over the years they have (obviously) made some people unhappy by no longer supporting private ownership, but I for one am glad that they learned and now do all they can to support legislation to stop the breeding and selling of exotic cats. They don't have to defend their past record, what they do as a sanctuary is important and much needed.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

that they continue to create a wonderful safe, peaceful life for the wildcats that come to them. They do not breed, sell, buy or exhibit the rescues and work with other accredited sanctuaries across the US.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

say that they need more help with fundraising. With limited resources, they do amazing things, creating large natural habitats, feeding wholesome food and the best vet care but more funding would enable them to do even more.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

that they have created a wonderful haven for the animals that they have taken in. Quiet, peaceful and safe, it's a wonderful place

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

totally dedicated to the animals and the mission.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

purchase more property to create an even more secluded spot for the rescues.

Ways to make it better...

na

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding

One thing I'd also say is that...

I wish there were more places like WildCat Haven that are honest in how they started and able to create something so positive out of something that was so foolish.
