Every year, I get to take 42 excited students to Operation School Bell. Yesterday, I took the first of 14 students. Some students had attended before, and some had not. There were kindergarten students who had never been on a bus before. They were a little nervous about the trip. A 3rd-grade experienced student told them before getting on the bus, "This is the best day of the year!" We are SO grateful for the Assistance League of Norman's partnership with Norman Public Schools.

I took a group of 12 students to Operation School Bell to shop for new clothes. These students ranged from kindergarten to second grade. I wish everyone could see their excitement. We went in the afternoon, and I'm sure their morning seemed like an eternity because one kept asking when we were going shopping! Some had never ridden a school bus before, which added to the fun. When we got there, we had the best experience. The volunteers are always so kind and helpful, perfect for children. The process is well organized and very thought out. One kindergartener said, "This is the best day of school!" and one student even thanked me again the next day for taking them. They were very grateful for their new clothing, and I am grateful for the confidence School Bell gives these students. They feel very special. Thank you, Assistance League of Norman!

The Assistance League of Norman wins the hearts of our kiddos every year when they get to go to Operation School Bell! They feel so special getting new and gently worn clothing, a book, and a stuffed animal. After about an hour of being back at school, one student asked when we were going back! They love it, and I love seeing them so happy. We appreciate the Assistance League of Norman and all they do!

As an elementary classroom teacher, I could always see the excitement in the students eyes when it was time for their trip to Operation School Bell and even more so when they returned! This year, I got to take 14 7th graders, as their middle school counselor. Now, I could experience the excitement first hand! As well as, the relief of their guardians knowing they would be taken care of. I had parent calls and students asking if they could go and when it would be. The kids that have been before, can't wait to go back! It is such a welcoming, comfortable, clean place for them. It's like a department store! The volunteers are so helpful to the students! Middle School can be a tough time for kids. This gives them some self confidence that is needed at this point in their lives. One less thing to worry about! Operation School Bell is an incredible program and a vital part of Norman Public Schools. Don't know what we would do without it! Thank you to OSB!
