I am a knitter and a wildlife rescue about 50 miles away was looking for knitted nests for baby birds. That led me to wonder if there was anyplace closer I could donate to. An internet search brought up Mickaboo. My dad always had budgie in the house so doing more volunteering with birds appealed to me.

Fast forward 6 years. I have fostered dozens of budgies and many other species as well, plus I do a lot of computer work for Mickaboo. I have met many many great people and have made some lifelong friends among these amazing rescue workers.

Two thumbs up for Mickaboo! Thank you ALL the volunteers in this all-volunteer rescue for doing great things for little birds.

Mickaboo volunteers are amazing. They give of their time, energy, and money without a second thought, sometimes in the middle of the night or at a moment's notice if a bird or birds are in danger or trouble. Local shelters call Mickaboo to take in strays or surrendered birds. And Mickaboo volunteers always find a way to help save hundreds of birds every year.

I was looking for someplace to spend my time and energy, and I found it with Mickaboo. These are amazing people who assist any bird in need at any time, through transporting animals to foster homes or to the vet, or picking up stray birds from local animal shelters and fostering them, to attending outreach events to let people know about bird rescue. Most local animal shelters do not have facilities to care for birds, so they call upon bird rescue groups like Mickaboo to assist with found birds. Everyone I have met is dedicated and caring. I'm honored to be a part of this group.

Mickaboo is a caring organization that tries hard to help all the birds who need help. This all-volunteer organization fosters and adopts out many birds each year. Most of the donations received go to pay for vet bills for birds who need special care or strays who come from the animal shelter and who need immediate medical attention. It's all about the birds!
