Review for Caribbean Womens Health Association Inc, Brooklyn, NY, USA

Rating: 1 stars

Specifically used the Immigration Department of this organization and worked directly with it Director. After literally a year, started the process, January 19, 2009, Immigration denied my request for permanence because my birth certificate was missing/or not clear on the subission. I only found this out 6 months after Immigration told me they were closing my request. Caribbean Women's Health Association, had received the request and did nothing to let me know. After all that work and verifying of information, I have to start over. They didn't even seem to really care that I had to, they just said if you want to get it you have to pay an additional amount of $1,200.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

No one that I know.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Create 2 more position in this department, an assistant and an administrator.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I have not enjoyed working with them,at all! They lost my paperwork, and I had to resubmit, they were not careful and minimized having to do all that work again.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Always too busy to talk and very disorganized.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Would never give then 10 million bucks.

Ways to make it better...

There were more regular checks with the Immigration Office and checks with the client so they could be kept abreast of the situation.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Keeping their doors open, I plan on telling as many people as possible how uncaring they were regarding my situation. And how they took my money $2,500 and did nothing they said they were going to do.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I would like a refund of my $2,500. That is my seed money to start all over again in getting my permanent residency.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  Client Served & Currently I am trying to find another place that is reliable.
