Serving on the Board is one part courageous and one part hard, but rewarding, work. In my three years as governance chair and secretary, I’ve championed several board initiatives have been perpetually challenged. My resume now includes developing bylaws and policy, managing the recruitment direction for new board members and bringing the fundraising momentum back to life--to name a few. My training and relationships coupled together have given me true understanding on how to shape the strategic vision, mission and shared goals of the organization. Not to mention, I have never met a group of more committed, dedicated, and focused people who really understand the importance of giving back to the community. And that is a whole lotta awesome!
