My sister is a volunteer at Big Cat Rescue and that's how I was introduced to the sanctuary years ago. She has taken me on two tours, most recently the Keeper Tour where operant behavior of the big cats can be seen directly. I enjoy the place very much, as I've learned about the different cats and their background stories, the wonderful ways they're cared for, and the fantastic ways they're able to live a dignified, wholesome, healthy and joyful life (in spite of former abuse and neglect). Enrichment, vet care, maintenance of the nearly 70 acres of land allows the big cats to live as close to "the wild" they can be. Kudos goes to Carole Baskin, the entire staff, interns, keepers, volunteers of every level and all workers who make this sanctuary live up to its name. It's truly beautiful to see.
