I went to Big Cat Rescue during a last-minute vacation to Florida in Nov. 2014; I'd never heard of BCR before then. I've volunteered regularly with companion animal shelters, but had never experienced anything like BCR before. The facility is amazing. The care and respect that each animal receives is apparent from the moment you start the tour. I even became a little over-zealous at the end of the tour, and my normally frugal self spent over $200 in their gift shop (I should note that they have high-quality items).

Now I watch their videos and read about them every day on their website and on facebook. I cheer when another cat is rescued; I laugh at the cats' antics on video; I watch in awe as the volunteers and keepers remain calm just 3 feet from a roaring tiger.

Ever since my visit I've known where my next vacation will be - Tampa, to see the big cats again!
