I volunteered for HCC during the summer of 2014 and was blown away by how much the organization really makes a difference in the everyday lives of so many people. While in Nepal, the children and staff members would regularly tell me how thankful they were for the assistance, while also expressing optimism for the organization and their own futures. HCC goes beyond simply giving a home and basic education to these children. The organization and its staff members foster a warm-hearted and open atmosphere where the kids feel free to express themselves and pursue their studies and interests. At the same time, HCC does a great job in getting these children a high level of education and positioning them to be successful in the future.

What HCC does, taking the most disadvantaged kids and giving them a loving home with adult and peer support and access to quality education, is something that is truly impactful in every one of these kids lives, and ultimately positions them to be independent and successful in their futures. I am personally very grateful that HCC exists because of the enormous amount of good it does in Nepal and the world, and I would encourage prospective volunteers to think about signing up to help. The experience of volunteering for HCC has helped me grow as a person and become more open minded and knowledgable about some of the challenges that face so many people in the world. I had never been to Nepal or a country like it before, and the experience of volunteering there for HCC has positively impacted my world view.
