I have been a volunteer with PHS/SPCA for 14 years, in various roles, and have always felt extremely appreciated. I can say without a doubt that I'm very proud to be affiliated with the organization, and it's been an incredibly rewarding way to spend my free time. Their new Center for Compassion in Burlingame is a state of the art facility for all animals available for adoption. I have always found their staff members to be dedicated, hard working, and compassionate.

Over the years, I have seen more than a few adoptable animals waiting for the right home for over a year (or two!). The staff and volunteers work tirelessly to make sure these animals are as happy and stimulated as possible, while living at the shelter. You won't find many open door shelters who will care for adoptable animals that long, which makes PHS/SPCA stand out.

I have also adopted two cats from them - their adoption process is thorough and smooth.
