The only thing more inspiring than WriteGirl, the organization, is the girls themselves. They are not only finding their individual voices, they are doing so with thought and depth. WriteGirl provides weekly mentors and monthly workshops exploring all genres of writing (Poetry! Memoir! Fiction! Songwriting!) and the girls give it all they've got. When a dozen girls share their work at the end of the workshop, the women and girls laugh and cry and clap and provide feedback and encourage.
Not to mention, every single senior involved in the core program has gone to college!! These girls are nurtured and helped every step of the way.
From Keren Taylor, the founder of WriteGirl, through her remarkable staff, to the volunteers and teens, there is a wonderful aura of positivity and warmth. WriteGirl celebrates the joy of writing and girl power!
