When I signed up for One Heart Source I was not certain what I was getting into.Honestly, my decision had a lot to do with getting a good grade in my African History class. I constantly asked myself what is new about Africa that I could learn after spending my first nineteen years in my mother country Kenya and only immigrating to the United States only recently (6 years ago).

After starting the program the answers did not wait too long to come. I was amazed to see how fast my fellow volunteers from the U.S. could gain such a deep understanding about people they have never met before and develop such warmth and passion to impact other peoples' lives. This was inspiring.

With OHS, you make bonds that no words can explain. I have never enjoyed working for any organization as I did for OHS. In my opinion two individuals stand out when you look at everything OHS has been able to achieve. It is easy to see why OHS is where it is when you meet John and Callan. John with his brilliance and affinity for languages, and Callan with her brilliance and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed! I found myself guilty of working first for the two leaders and second for the noble cause.

Choose OHS, it does not matter how much you think you know about the world. You will learn lots!
