Review for Empowering Spirits Foundation, Inc., San Diego, CA, USA
I started volunteering for Empowering Spirits Foundation last September, as a local volunteer coordinator for a national event. The mission of the organization (to create opportunities for GLBT individuals to have non-confrontational dialog with non-GLBT individuals through community service activities) was right up my alley, because I am passionate about community service, and I am also gay. The event in my area was basically rained out, but I continued to volunteer for ESF, writing grants, and now I am on the Board of Directors. I believe in what ESF does, the management (Latham Staples) and the few paid staff are all great to work with, and I truly believe that they are making a huge difference in our country. It is great to have at least one day a year where we can go volunteer as "out" GLBT and feel safe and know we are making a difference.
