Review for Sylvia's Children, Holmdel, NJ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

There are a few things in my life I can say were life changing... changing schools as kid, going to college, volunteering in Eastern KY, marrying my husband....but the one that nears the top of the list that has impacted my world, my work, and my heart....was volunteering for Sylvia’s Children. I’ve been associated with Sylvia Allen and her organization since 2007 and never have I ever experienced such devotion to a cause so far from home. The organization sends every single cent to where it belongs... no administrative cuts. 100% goes to these wonderful, smart, loving children who share themselves with you without hesitation when you travel to meet them. Sponsoring a child is easy and costs less than a daily cup of coffee (even the coffee you make at home). Feel free to do your research but you’ll be hard pressed to find a more honest and devoted organization.

Review for Christian Appalachian Project, Inc., Paintsville, KY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I volunteered with CAP during 2004- 2005. I had an amazing experience and the organization has truly impacted the people of Eastern KY in a positive manner. CAP provides wonderful programs including housing repair, child care, respite, after school care, adult education, elderly care, and a host of other programs. There is a paid staff that is part of CAP and a board of directors... without which the organization would fall apart. Father Ralph Beiting started the organization 50 years ago and it is a huge undertaking... not everyone can be a volunteer anymore as there is too much work to do and plus... it's providing jobs for people in the area. Please consider volunteering for this organzation... it is a life changing experience.

I have worked in connection with Sylvia's Children since 2007 and am consistantly in awe of the progress and self sustainable practices that the school continues to adopt. I traveled to Uganda on three seperate occasions and saw the growth with my own eyes, hugged these children, shared meals, and worked along side the people there. This is a fantastic organization built on honesty. Every dollar finds it's way to the school and the children who call it home. Please consider supporting this wonderful organization.
