Review for Kyle David Miller Foundation, Confier, CO, USA
I have a BIG kid. No, he's not morbidly obese or anything, he's just my big guy. 99% in both height and weight. So at 2 years old he had outgrown 40lbs harnessed seats by height, and was nearing outgrowing them by weight. I started researching, and was flabbergasted. The ONLY seats (and there were only TWO at the time) he would fit in were almost $300!! As a single parent there was no way. Especially not on the month or two notice I had to do it in. I called police stations, state trooper assoc., children's hospital, and all only give out seats that have 14.5" top slots with 40lbs harnesses. No good. I was told to put him in a booster, which from research I knew was unacceptable. A smart CPST told me to apply to the KDM foundation, I was quickly approved a few months later got a seat. Without it I don't know what I would've had to do. My son is happy and safe in his Britax Regent. Kyle's family has done an awesome thing. And its a beautiful way to preserve their son's memory, by saving other children's lives.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Numerous families on the web, and even on featured on a morning show.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
follow the great example that the founder has set.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the real sincere caring they show for kids everywhere.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
compassionate and efficient
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
provide car seats to everyone on their waiting list, and educate more parents on the need of harnessed seats.
Ways to make it better...
the organization had more money to serve people faster. Something that's totally not their fault. :)
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
lack of funds, and difficulty convincing people of the importantness of the cause.
One thing I'd also say is that...
one day I'd like to be able to help support them, too.
