I was looking for a dog for my daughter in 2001 and came across LDCRF when visiting a local Petco for guinea pig food. My daughter fell in love with a dog that had just been returned (got engaged and the fiance's poodle did not like her so the groom to be had to return her) and we subsequently adopted her. Thus began my relationship with the organization as a volunteer. From fostering to fundraising, they are such a fabulous rescue to be affiliated with from all fronts. I have friends in other areas of the country who work with rescues and they are astounded as to the type of organization I represent.
