The Ellen Gifford Cat Shelter is a wonderful place. It is unique from other shelters because the cats and kittens are not in individual cages. They roam amongst their fellow cats and can socialize, sit on the windowsills and enjoy the sunshine and birds, and use the scratching posts and toys. The people that work there are kind, caring, and genuinely care about all the resident cats. I started volunteering there and it is so rewarding and calming to me. It is bittersweet when the cats get adopted because you fall in love with them caring for them.
