I’ve been volunteering for Diveheart for about a year now. I mostly volunteer in the office and have become very close with the board members and staff. They have provided me with multiple opportunities to learn and I am able to see firsthand how committed they are to making this organization successful. The founders dedicate their whole life to Diveheart. They are constantly thinking about how to make improvements and what would be best for the participants.
One of my favorite things about Diveheart is being able to engage with the participants and hear their stories about how rewarding scuba diving is for them. I’ve heard stories of how they feel like they belong to a family and are motivated to do better because of their accomplishments.
I am currently an occupational therapy student and love the therapeutic potential that diving can bring to people as well as the purpose and meaning that people find within scuba diving.
