My name is Michael White. I'm an Honorably Discharged Retired Navy Veteran who served our nation for over 13 years. I have both an AA and BA in political science with an overall 3.61 GPA. My future plans are to attend law school and become an attorney. I lost my last regular job in March 2014 due to cutbacks. It was a part time cleaning service job. So I applied for unemployment and starting searching for new work. Unfortunately and despite my immaculate record, I was having tremendous difficulty finding new work within the field of my expertise. I had probably applied to over 500 different jobs even with a professionally revamped resume with no success before I came into contact with the Travis Manion Foundation. I was referred to it by another Vet organization who thought the program might be helpful for my professional development. So I applied to it and was accepted into the 5 month program. The Travis Manion mentorship program turned out to be a great benefit to me. The staff showed concern and understanding to my circumstances. The program included various meetings to touch upon various aspects of professional growth and development and provided me with a new perspective on how to connect with the job market more successfully. Additionally, the program provided a monthly grant to assist the enrollees in the program financially which is something no other Vet assistance program does. I am indebted to the Travis Manion Foundation for their assistance. As a result, I was able to use the new skills and tools I learned in the program to finally obtain a decent paying job. That's just the beginning. Thank you Travis Manion. You are the best Vet program in the U.S.A.!
