10,000 Degrees is the most successful and professional nonprofit organization I have ever encountered. Its effective recruitment, mentoring and multi-faceted support of students who might not otherwise attend college is impressive. The organization understands the key role that education plays both in the lives and families of its students, but also in the society at large. While taking care of basic student needs (college applications, financial aid, support through college, professional advising), 10,000 Degrees demonstrate astute strategic thinking in expanding its programs as the students course through the organization. Importantly, the organization is a good steward of the funds it receives. Its executive director's selflessness, perspective and untiring commitment to the causes the organization champions gives confidence to its donors, leadership and students that 10,000 Degrees is here to stay and will continue to have positive impact.
