Review for Operation Shoebox, Belleview, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

For the past 3 1/2 years I have gone to Operation Shoebox each and almost every Monday. The dedication of the more than 300 weekly volunteers makes this wonderful organization what it is. We are there for one purpose and one purpose only and that this to Never Forget Our Soldiers who are fighting to keep our country free! We make, package and then send out over 350 filled "goody bags" each week , and then at Christmas all that we normally send is sent in hand made Christmas Stockings for the service men and women all over the world. Approx 3,000 are packaged a week starting in Oct. My husband is a Viet Nam Vet, and very proud of that fact, but he was never thanked for his service and there were no organizations like Operation Shoebox to send the soldiers a little bit of home and to let them know they were appreciated. This is so important to me that I will continue to do my small part in one of the best organizations I can think of.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the soldiers who have returned to the USA and have come to Fl, to the Operation Shoebox session and told us what the pkgs they and their troops received meant to them. That we MADE a difference, they realized that they were remembered.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing the same people each week and watching the new volunteers coming in and being amazed at what a well oiled program we have, each one knows their job, goes about and does it and we all get those "goody bags" out each week.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

send many many many more packages.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

Role:  Volunteer & I am part of a much larger group that makes small angels that are enclosed in hand knitted/crochet caps that go under a soldiers helmet for warmth during the winter months. The angel is send along with a prayer to keep them safe. They write and tell us.
