Review for Christian Help Center Church, Vallejo, CA, USA
CHC not only provides emergency shelter for the homeless, but also provides wholistic services to serve the total individual. In addition to feeding and food/goods distributions, they provide referrals through casemanagement services to meet the individual's needs, whatever it might be (SSI application; resume writing; job referrals; bills/landlords disputes; spiritual support; health concerns, etc.) With Christian influence, which permeates how everyone of all religions, sexual orientation, age and disabilities are compasstionately treated, the transformation of people's lives become testimonials of their success as they transition to self sufficiency and independence. It is interesting to see the bond former "guests" have with the shelter. Most return to become volunteers to serve others who come through the door.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the testimonials and outcome of people's lives.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
structure the human resources available and provide other pieces of educational and job training/placement needs.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
seeing how people's lives are transformed and the gratitude they have for the Center.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
enthusiastic about their service, and cheerful about helping.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
expand its shelter capacity through renovation and property acquisition, hire paid personnel, provide other services as needed.
Ways to make it better...
I could have had more (quantity and quality) time to observe the operations.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
physical space and funding to provide for a vision for the future.
One thing I'd also say is that...
it is amazing that the administrative/personnel costs of running the shelter is so low, yet because of the dedication of all those who work there and donations from the community, this organization has been able to thrive.
