Vintage Paws Sanctuary is such a wonderful rescue. Our first encounter with them was rescuing an 11yo German Shepherd Dog, Brinks, whose caretaker had passed and the family put him into a shelter. Jen Hummel pulled him, then another volunteer transported him and I forever fostered until Brinks crossed the rainbow bridge. He was a wonderful pup. We now have two forever foster pups, one 18 and one 11+. This organization cares about the dogs, their volunteers, and the foster parents. I highly recommend Vintage Paws and hope you join us in saving our seniors because #olddogsrock!

Bird Of Paradise (BOPs, for short) is a sanctuary for birds. This non-profit is mainly a safe place for birds who no longer have a home, are no longer wanted by their owners or have been neglected or abused. The outdoor aviaries are large and well tended and house birds that really just want to be birds; they fly, preen and live in peace in a safe space. There are, of course, those birds that are human friendly and want to be with their person and the Executive Director, Debbie Huckaby, facilitates adoptions for those birds. All in all, there are many birds that have a place to just be birds here and that is a very uplifting message to those who support bird conservation and rescue.

This is the non-profit to which I will leave a substantial trust for my two larger parrots, a CAG and U2, so that they may be either cared for by Best Friends after I pass or adopted out to a great new parront for my babies. I contribute monthly now, but my plan is to make sure my parrots are well taken care of upon my death and no other rescue in the entire US is as good as Best Friends. I live in FL and am involved in dog and parrot rescue so I have no other reason to leave this review except that I feel strongly that everyone should know what a fabulous job they do for all animals. Thanks Best Friends...you are my hero
