Review for Air Compassion for Veterans, Virginia Bch, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As both a disabled veteran and employee of Air Compassion for Veterans (ACV), I can tell you first hand how important this benefit is to our men and women serving our country. ACV does not duplicate the air transportation services provided to our injured veterans. Instead, we pride ourselves on being the safety net for our veterans when the federal government is unable to support their air transportation needs. Simply put, ACV gets the veteran to the best medical treatment options available in the country. This way he/she can have optimal recovery from their injures. Monthly, ACV provides an average of 500 free flights to veterans and their adversely affected family members to a variety of Therapeutic, Rehabilitative and Counseling Services that are not accessible in the veterans local community. These are mostly ambulatory clients on commercial carriers, but may include Medevac and Angel Flight(private plane volunteers). Requests for support often exceed the resources available to ACV, so we work tirelessly to solicite fundings and frequent flyer miles from a variety of sources. If you know of an individual or organization that would like to join in the delivery of these compassion flights, please contact the ACV office. www.aircompassionforveterans.org/donate

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

our call center. Last month, 530 flights were delivered using the financial support of concerned citizens and organizations.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

reading the many letters of thanks from the families that we support with these flights.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated to serving those who served their country. The staff is committed and dedicated to granting as many requests for support as possible. ACV is happy to report that 96% of all contributions goes to pay for these free flights to veterans.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

fulfill all veteran and family member requests for air transport no matter what generation they served in the United States military.

Ways to make it better...

the Federal Government (DoD/VA) would work in partnership with ACV so that fewer veterans missed out on need medical services that were only available outside of the veteran's local area.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Having enough resources to help every veteran request for air transporation.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
