Review for Dogs on Deployment, Escondido, CA, USA
Dogs on Deployment meets such a critical need! I'm on my second military foster. Sadly, when our military members go overseas, no provisions are made for their companion animals. As every animal-lover knows, pets are treasured members of the family. Several years ago, I was in PetSmart and saw a kitty up for adoption because his Dad was going to Iraq and had no one to watch over him. At that time, I had a kitty with diabetes who needed special care, so was not in a position to adopt him. When my Shadow Kitty passed away, I wanted to do my part to see that at least a few other kitties would be waiting for their families after deployment.
My first two kitties were guests at what my friends call Disneyland for Cats for 20 months. My current furry companions will be with me around 30 months. The kitties are a Joy – as are their families!
I am so pleased with my experiences that I have entire albums on Facebook about how to foster with DOD as well as my feelings – including returning the kitties to their families. It’s a bit tough, but very rewarding!
