There are several things that are concerning about this charity. 1) High executive salaries: There are quite a few executive salaries of over $100,000 including those of board members (which is considered to be a part-time job). The CEO made nearly $700,000, not including healthcare, retirement and first class travel expenses. 2) Goal that may not be helpful and add high costs to the healthcare system. Their main goal is to educate women to undergo frequent mammograms for early detection. There is now evidence that frequent mammograms may do more harm than good because of the problem of false positives. Treatment of women for cancer is harsh and life-altering. If this is unnecessary care, more harm than good may be done. 3) Some charity money goes to providers such as Planned Parenthood to provide breast exams and mammographies. They get maybe 5 cents for each dollar raised. It makes more sense to contribute directly to these charities.
