I always thought donkeys were cute, long-eared horse relatives. And I didn't think much else about them. But after volunteering at Longhopes, I have grown to really love the animals, (which aren't horses at all!) Longhopes is an amazing organization that helps donkeys at ALL stages of their gentle lives. Every week I volunteer, there are new donkeys, with different problems that Longhopes helps the donkeys overcome. It's mind-boggling how many donkeys have been rehabilitated and adopted to forever homes here. As a volunteer, I really appreciate the incredible, hands-on opportunity to work with these animals; Longhopes is a great organization for go-getter volunteers who don't want mundane tasks to do every day, but who want to play an intrinsic role in the organization's success and an active role in helping these amazing creatures.
