I discovered Canine Support Teams quite by accident as I helped my son complete his community service requirement for High School graduation. While Christmas shopping at our local mall in 2011, we came upon their "Giving Tree" and discovered they needed volunteers to staff the booth through the holiday season. My son & I each took on some hours. He completed his graduation requirements and I STAYED ON! I was incredibly impressed with the mission of CST and the incredible, positive impact they made on the lives of their clients. But MORE than that, I fell in love with the AMAZING TEAM of people who made it all happen, lead by Founder Carol Roquemore. Carol combines passion & leadership with the unique perspective of being an expert, experienced trainer, as well as a disabled handler of many service dogs. She truly sees the BIG picture from BOTH sides of the table! Their innovative incorporation of inmate trainers from the Women's Correctional Facility has not only allowed them to train MORE dogs more quickly and place them with clients sooner, this program provides hope and opportunity for women to make a way for themselves and their families once they are released. I am so thankful to have found CST as a vehicle for my volunteer service - it's the perfect marriage of serving others and working with dogs. I look forward to participating with this wonderful organization for the NEXT 25 years! God bless CST!
