I had heard of Random Acts long before participating in any of its projects.
It wasn't until after participating in Gishwhes in 2014 that I realized just how much Random Acts does. As I looked deeper into this charity, it surprised me how little the organization actually asks for donations for themselves. Everything either goes toward a specific project, or they help collect donations for other charitable works.
The main goal of RA seems to be about engaging people into helping their neighbors and contributing to society in small ways. They even offer help with support and donations for your own projects, if they meet approval.
As for transparency, documents are easily locatable on their website and they make contacting them easy. They even have the organization divided by global regions.
Due to the existence of Random Acts, I have become more active in my community, donating my time to local food banks and other local charitable organizations, that are unassociated with Random Acts.
I have made a few small donations to RA since discovering just how much good they do, and how much they inspire people to help others.

Considering the entire organization is volunteer-run and that they are as proactive and transparent as possible, it amazes me just how much they have been able to do thus far.
