Review for Lost Paws Rescue of Texas, Carrollton, TX, USA
I got my puppy from Lost Paws a couple months ago and she has become my best friend in the short amount of time! However, I do have some points that I think people should watch out for before adopting from them.
First thing is that on their paperwork, they said she was a maltee-poo. It was only after I adopted her and saw her previous record from the shelter that I found out she was a terrier mix. I needed a dog who was hypoallergenic and her being a maltee-poo was one of the reasons that she caught my eye. Thankfully, nobody in my family is allergic to her so that was okay in our situation, but could have been bad in other situations.
Second, they told me in the description that she was rescued from a breeder. Because of that, I believed them when they said that she was a maltee-poo. Today, I called the shelter she was originally from and they told me she was actually a stray. Had I known that, I would have been able to work better with some of her behavior issues. These might be innocent mistakes, but it might have been done on purpose as well to get their dogs adopted faster.
Lastly, there is no real interview process. I just walked in, saw her, signed the papers, paid, and took her home. They didn't provide me with any details about her personality, daily schedule, or even the type of food she was eating, even after I called and asked. Most rescue organizations even help with introductions to the home and family members/pets and evaluate whether the pet owner was a good match for the pet, so I was disappointed that Lost Paws did not do that for me.
All in all, they do a good job rescuing these lost pets and I am very happy with mine, but I feel like this organization could definitely benefit from some improvements.
