Review for Alliance For International Women's Rights, , WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

AIWR's Executive Director, Lisa Herb, has created a truly exceptional organization that generates many tangible positive impacts for women. It's heartwarming to witness what an incredible difference AIWR's volunteer teachers and mentors make in the lives of their students and mentees. AIWR's mentees have, with the guidance and support of their mentors, qualified for and received scholarships for advanced education in their field, obtained visiting scholar roles, been hired as apprentices at major law firms, and been offered teaching roles at major universities. They have published papers in top journals, been offered jobs at the UN, and been invited to speak at international human rights conferences. After going into exile in 2021, AIWR's mentees have started to recertify in their fields, including law and medicine. Some mentees, having benefitted from AIWR, have been inspired to set up their own mentorship and teaching programs. It is amazing to see how much can be accomplished with simple good will and skilled assistance.

Review for Alliance For International Women's Rights, , WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a volunteer with AIWR for almost seven years now, and it has consistently been a wonderful experience. I have learned so much from the senators and women's rights attorneys who participated in AIWR's Mentor Program, while enjoying the feeling of being useful to them. Witnessing their increasing professional mastery and success over the years has been very rewarding, whether seeing them get hired by leading international women's rights organizations or accepted into competitive LL.M. scholarship programs in the U.S. But most valuable to me has been the increased understanding and friendships formed over the years of working together. Lisa Herb has created a truly amazing organization, offering so many opportunities to empower the women of Afghanistan while increasing international understanding.
