Review for Dance Force, Inc. dba Full Radius Dance, Atlanta, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This organization allowed me to have increased clarity in a number of different areas. The first one is how every human being is capable of doing anything they set their minds to it. When one thinks about a "dancer" there is an immediate picture that comes to mind; for me was the ballet dacers I saw in a Nutcracker's performance. If you were not trained starting at 5 year old and kept a cookie cutter body shape you could never be a dancer. Well, now my world has totally changed when I see Douglas Scott the Artistic Director of FullRadiusDance integrate all kinds of dancers in the company. Half of the dancer use a wheelchair, I always tell the story of one of the dancers that uses a chair asking her moder to go to ballet classes when she was a little girl and her mother saying, girls in a "wheelchair" can not be dancers. The performances are inspiring and every time I see the Company on stage it re-energizes me by looking at the possibilities we all are capable for. The second area of impact was in team building. As I look at the process of new dancers coming into the Company I see a person with unique abilities (versus disabilities); these abilities grow stringer by everyone else understanding what every member of the company can do and maximizing as much as possible. The trust and dependency that the company members have is a great model as to how all of us should build teams. I have taken a new approach at work and I focus more on what people bring to our teams to see how that can be maximized for the better performance of the team.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the reaction of every persona that gets to see the company. The world of possibilities get brough to the forefront and a new perception of dance and people with disabilities is left in their minds forever.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the energy and the positive impact it has during every public performance. As I said before I feel renewed energy everytime I am around this company.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very committed and hard working people. Amazing what they can accomplish with very little resources. Once again the art of the possible is represented in everythin they do.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide a comprehensive set of Arts program reaching out across regions nationally and international. The Airtistic Director has a vission of creating the CIA (Center for the Integrated Arts) providing possibilities to all artists.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month
