Review for Ann Arbor Art Association, Ann Arbor, MI, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I have been associated with the Ann Arbor Art Assocation for about 35 years. I started out as a volunteer helping to decide on which exhibits would be in the gallery, I was on the Board and then I was the Exhibit Gallery Director for about 7 years. I loved that job because I was doing exactly what I wanted to do, support the visual arts and artists in my community. I went on to other work but continued to be a member, promoter and user of their services. I believe the arts can change lives and my community is much richer by having the Art Association in our downtown. I have just become more active as a volunteer by joining the Board of Directors. It is great to have been part of a vibrant community organization for so long and I am excited about becoming a more active volunteer for the organization again.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the exhibits they present, art workshops I have attended with my nieces, and the beautiful historic building they bought and renovated and continue to renovate.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

knowing that my support and participation are keeping an important community organization healthy.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

always neat people to get to know and dedicated to the mission of the organization.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide more scholarships and art materials to children and adults in need, support an endowment that would provide for more dependable operating and building support, and pay better staff salaries.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  Former staff & I supported local and regional artists, and helped to encourage the visual arts in the community by running the Exhibit Gallery for about seven years.
