Review for First Nations Development Institute, Longmont, CO, USA
First Nations Development Institute is our top philanthropic priority. This Native-led nonprofit does highly effective work, resourcing Native communities in areas like food sovereignty and health, connecting Tribal youth to their cultural ways, financial empowerment, strengthening Tribal institutions, and stewarding Native lands. Their California Tribal Fund allows me to support this work in my home state -- work that benefits all of us, as Native knowledge-keepers begin to take leadership in managing land to reduce the destruction from forest fires.
FNDI does a great job involving donors in their work. We have learned so much traveling to community partner sites with other supporters. We are glad to have found such a great nonprofit to support.

First Nations is a truly great nonprofit. My husband and I learned about them in 2018, sent a modest donation, and got on their email list. When we heard about the group tour of Coastal Salish tribal sites in 2019, we immediately signed up. It was one of the greatest travel experiences of our lives! We learned so much, saw so much beauty, and were treated like honored guests by every Tribe we visited.
We have been impressed with every First Nations staff person we've met. To a person, they are knowledgeable, capable, committed to their work, and just plain good people. We've continued to support First Nations, and continued to get to know their wonderful staff members.
First Nations is now our top philanthropic priority. The work they do is vitally important, not only for social justice (strengthening Native voices and Tribes) but for our planet.
