Review for The Newport Beach Library Foundation, Newport Beach, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This Library is a 5-star destination for Newport Beach and surrounding communities. Science Lectures, Wittie current event speakers, Library Live Distinguished Author Speaker program, Literacy classes, and family-related events. This is a full-service Library and Community Center. It's truly amazing the breadth and depth of the offerings here.

Review for A Room of Her Own Foundation, Placitas, NM, USA

Rating: 5 stars

AROHO brings women artists and writers into a room together, there I found inspiration, acceptance and encouragement. At the retreat last August, I met women of every age. The atmosphere at AROHO is invigorating. When I read my poems the acceptance of other writers is so strengthening The newsletter keeps us informed and connected.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The retreat in August 2009. They have given me the courage to participate in local writing seminars

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give them a lot of money.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The feeling of acceptance and encouragement.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

interested in each person attending. They took time to ask about our work and encouraged me to continue. They participated in the workshops and were part of the learners.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

give more women the gift of freedom. I am an example of a woman who raised my family, worked in the community, taught school, but did not pursue my great love, writing. It was not available to me financially, nor did I have a room of my own.

Ways to make it better...

I could have stayed another week.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

letting people know that it exists. Every person I met at the retreat was so enthusiastic about the experience. I think it will grow, but needs exposure.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I wish AROHO existed when I was younger.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010
