Review for Dfw Pug Rescue Club Inc, Grapevine, TX, USA
I am a second time adopter from the DFW Pug Rescue. The first time around was an experience of a lifetime. The DFW Pug Rescue was very diligent in finding the perfect fit for me AND the pup. This was a total success, and I adopted the love of my life. We spent over ten years together.
I adopted my second pug last month. I was told he was available and rushed to meet him. The vet that was caring for him had NO information about this pug, other than his age. The pug had been residing in a veterinarian facility instead of a foster home. I was told he'd been fully vetted and was healthy, nothing more. First off, I requested a calm, soft mannered pug that wanted to be loved on constantly. What I got was a tornado. He is wild. He bites, jumps with all 30 pounds of him crashing into people and things, he chews and has completely destroyed my home, and last but not least, he is sick. He's had multiple infections, each requiring a visit to the veterinarian. Not only do I sit and watch this dog suffer daily, but I have spent/lost thousands of dollars on vet bills and destroyed furniture, carpet, and electronics. I love the little guy, but we could not be a worse match. He is the exact opposite of what I requested in my application. Had DFW Pug Rescue taken the time/effort to put him in foster care before adopting him out, they could have found him a more suitable home and learned a thing or two about his needs. This would also have prevented adopting out a sick animal to someone who was promised a healthy one.
I feel very stuck, because I committed to this guy against my better judgement. I got a bad vibe the second I laid eyes on him, but the vet tech where he was staying pushed me into taking him home for a "trial run". Had I known ANYTHING about his disposition, however, I would have politely passed. I have made every effort to contact DFW Pug Rescue with my thoughts, feelings, and concerns about this situation, and I have been completely ignored. Are they helping pugs? That depends on your definition of "help". Have they gotten away from their concept of finding the perfect fit for adopter and pup? Absolutely. Do they care about you or your adopted pug once they receive your adoption fee? Not at all. I feel like I've been cheated, and even worse, so has my pug. Yes, I love him and make sure his needs are met to the best of my ability, but he's not living the life he could be living if he had a parent who appreciated his temperament. Very, very sad. They are all about the money now, not all about the pugs. I will never adopt from them again.
Sincerely,
Two broken hearts
