Review for Cocoon House, Everett, WA, USA
I am a previous client turned board member (active for 3.5 years). I entered their doors in their short-term facility when I was 14 years old after having to leave my home where it was no longer safe. Throughout my teenage years, Cocoon House and their staff became my surrogate family, even after I safely exited upon turning 18. They were available and compassionate to me while I was living with them and when I was ignorantly choosing to be on the streets. Most importantly, they were there for me when I was ready to do what I had to, to become an adult. I got my GED, enrolled into vocation college and have been giving back to the community working in the medical field. It is my goal to keep this organization thriving to become a better utilized resource in Snohomish County and reach out those past our region to hopefully end youth homelessness. Cocoon House is the place for young kids to feel like they belong somewhere, a place to feel accepted and not burdened by staying at their friends/families couches. Without them, I wouldn't have the opportunity to give back to my community and support others, but more importantly alive to tell about it.
