Review for Olathe Civic Band Inc, Olathe, KS, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I started playing with the Olathe Civic Band about eight years ago, after hearing several of their concerts. They sounded great, and after Ed Colson told the crowd that anyone could join the band at any time and that there were no auditions, I was in! Not only is the band filled with good musicians, it is filled with people that are nice and fun to be around. The crowds seem to like our playing, and it's nice to be playing again. Plus, in addition to joining this group, it's allowed me the opportunity to join and play in other concert and symphonic type bands in the Greater KC metro area. I don't know what my life would be like without playing in a group such as the Olathe Civic Band, but I imagine it wouldn't be as fun.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

playing as a member of this group.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

find other places to play concerts in the greater KC area.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

that it gave me opportunity to play with other bands and to meet other musicians.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly and nice to be around.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

play music all over the world for people that need cheering up, provide music lessons for those that can't afford them, and show how much fun playing a musical instrument could be.

Ways to make it better...

I had a wife or girlfriend that also played an instrument; hey, twice the fun!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

money to get other concerts set up. That is, we have a trailer filled with stands and instruments, so there are transportation costs and other miscellaneous costs associated with putting on a concert.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am very glad that I became of member of this organization. I cannot say that enough!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month
