Review for One Voice Chorus Inc, Henrico, VA, USA
I am about to perform in my second concert with One Voice Choir of Richmond, VA. Joining was something I've been wanting to do but with three children at home it hasn't been an indulgence I've allowed myself. In addition, I do not read music well but memorize quickly so I was nervous about the commitment and maybe more so about my place in the choir. Not one who is easily thwarted by challenges, I now find myself surrounded by a wonderfully diverse group of the most lovely people who come together to sing to their hearts content! I am not judged by my lack of knowledge or anything else for that matter. It is our common intention to "reach across the aisle" to greet and chat with someone we do not know. We are inspired by the storytelling and personal histories of our choral leadership. This allows us the pleasure of coming together and making a difference not just among the confines of our choir but to model a common humanity to the community at large. My children really enjoy that I take pleasure in my indulgence and are quite surprised to find that their mother sings, relatively well, in a choir with a purpose that exceeds the pleasure of singing. I for one am proud to say that I connect weekly with this group who's intentions are fulfilled! Peacefully, Cheri Maffei Wolff
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
My efforts with my youngest son to feed the homeless every Sunday in a local park. I occasionally even break into song! Our level of comfort is apparent and with regard to the community at large, I simply want to model inclusiveness
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
not change a thing.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Feeling the power of Negro Spirituals in the company of those who most deeply feel the effects of this history.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Kind, welcoming and amazingly organized and professional.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Perform all over the world and bring the power of diversity to every corner of the planet.
Ways to make it better...
Other moms with children at home could find the time. Or rather, make the time!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
funding
One thing I'd also say is that...
The stress of not knowing how or from where the funds will come, though apparent, does not in any way dampen the enthusiasm or mission of this group.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
About every week
